About California Travel Association
California Travel Association (CalTravel) is the influential unified voice for California’s travel and tourism industry.
WHO WE ARE
Since 1981, CalTravel has protected and enhanced the interests of the California travel and tourism industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education. Travel and tourism is one of the most significant economic drivers in the state – responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars in economic activity, millions of jobs and billions in tax revenues.
Visitors to California spent $132.4 billion in 2017, spending that supported over one million jobs. California travelers generated $10.9 billion in state and local taxes in 2017 to support vital public services including police, fire protection, health and homeless services, park maintenance, education and road repair. Our membership is made up of cities, destinations, resorts, amusement parks, sports venues, transportation companies, industry associations, ad agencies, media companies, and other organizations for whom travel and tourism is important.
Membership dues, sponsorship, and event revenue fund CalTravel’s lobbying efforts, education, member communications, outreach, and participation on the board of U.S. Travel. The CalTravel PAC gives CalTravel the ability to educate policy makers on the importance of travel and tourism to the state. California Travel Association is a 501(c)6 nonprofit mutual benefit corporation.
