California Connections Series: A Fresh Perspective on Tourism

MILITARY TO MUSEUM: A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON TOURISM

One of the biggest benefits of changing careers is the ability to bring new knowledge and expertise to an organization. Join us virtually on July 25 as Rear Admiral Terry Kraft (ret), President & CEO of USS Midway Museum, discusses his transition from serving in the military to leading one of San Diego’s most popular attractions. He’ll share how his unique background has given him a fresh perspective on tourism, as well as his plans for guiding the museum into its next chapter.

As USS Midway Museum’s new President & CEO, Rear Admiral Terry Kraft (ret) is responsible for all operations and revenue aboard the number one ship museum in the world, leading over 900 volunteers and staff.

Kraft served 34 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Rear Admiral. His years in the service included stints commanding an aviation squadron, ship and aircraft-carrier strike groups, and overseas shore facilities.

As Kraft takes the helm of the USS Midway Museum, one of his first major projects will be the development of a $60 million public park on Navy Pier which will include a bayfront promenade and an amphitheater.

Kraft is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He also holds a Master's in Political Science from Auburn University, was a Federal Executive Fellow at Harvard University, and is certified by the Department of Energy as a nuclear supervisor. He has served on the boards of the U.S. Naval Institute, the Association of Naval Aviation, Distinguished Flying Cross Society, and United Through Reading.
