Attractions & Experiences Meeting: America's Most Ambitious New Museum Opening

Join the Attractions & Experiences Committee for a special Zoom session highlighting Los Angeles’ new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which was just named one of "2022 Best New Museums in the World" by Conde Nast Traveler. Opened to the general public on September 30, 2021, after nine years of planning and construction, this $484 million project is the first large scale museum of its kind in the United States and is the world’s premier institution dedicated to the art and science of movies.

Designed by Pulitzer-Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano, the museum features four full floors of gallery space and over 13 million objects in its collections. Expected to be a major draw in Los Angeles for both tourists and residents, this museum offers immersive and dynamic stories of the movies—their art, technology, artists, history, and social impact—through a variety of diverse and engaging voices.

Bill Kramer, President & Director of Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will join us to speak about his work on this incredible new attraction.

He oversees all aspects of the project’s management, design, physical development, curation, fundraising, and creative direction. He previously served as the project’s Managing Director for Development and External Relations, successfully raising $250 million to move the project into construction and managing public approvals and the planning process.

He holds a Master of Urban Planning and Public Administration degree from New York University and a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
