CALTRAVEL LEADERSHIP NOMINATIONS

Leadership in the tourism industry has never been more important! Help shape the future of California tourism by nominating yourself, a colleague, or an industry partner for a CalTravel leadership position. We are looking for individuals who can help our industry organization grow in influence, effectiveness, and value. We value diversity, welcoming new voices and perspectives.

NOMINATIONS TIMELINE

Apr. 19: Nominations close

May 8: Nominations Committee propose new slate to the Executive Committee

June 7: Slate is sent out to members for a vote via email

July 1: Approved slate is announced and new term begins

Sept. 9: New leadership is introduced at the CalTravel Summit All-Member Board Meeting

LEADERSHIP CRITERIA

  • CalTravel is seeking up to one (1) new Executive Committee member from the CalTravel BOD to oversee the work of CalTravel and to direct management, strategy, and investment. We are looking for a balance of representation across the organization.

    Commitment:

    — Member of the CalTravel Board of Directors

    — CalTravel PAC Donor (suggested amount: $5,000 per year if from organization, $500 per year if personal)

    — Attendance at quarterly board meetings

    — Participation in CalTravel activities

    — Significant additional time commitment

    Term limits: Three-year terms with a maximum of one renewal

  • CalTravel is seeking 10-12 At-Large Board Directors for the 2024/26 term who fit one or more of the following criteria: ​

    — Leader of an individual advocacy association involved in California tourism​

    — Influential voice in the tourism industry​

    — Representative of regions, industries, or perspectives that might otherwise be underrepresented on the Board of Directors ​

    — Individual who has made and continues to make significant personal contributions to CalTravel's mission​

    Commitment: 

    — Up-to-date membership in CalTravel, plus $500 annual board assessment fee

    — CalTravel PAC Donor (suggested amount: $2,000 per year if from organization, $500 per year if personal)

    — Attendance at quarterly board meetings

    — Participation in CalTravel activities

    Term Limits:

    — Two-year term with one back-to-back consecutive renewal

    — Association members have no term limits

    — Gold member organizations and higher have no term limits as long as they sustain their membership level

  • CalTravel is seeking nominations for individuals interested in serving as Chair for the following committee for the 2024/25 term starting July 1:

    — Communications Committee

    — Sustainability & Stewardship Committee

    Term Limits: One-year term with a maximum of two renewals

    Commitment:

    — Up-to-date membership in CalTravel

    — Attendance at quarterly board meetings

    — Participation in CalTravel activities

    — Significant additional time commitment

    — Expertise in subject area
