CALTRAVEL LEADERSHIP NOMINATIONS

 
 

Leadership in the tourism industry has never been more important! Help shape the future of California tourism by nominating yourself, a colleague, or an industry peer for a CalTravel leadership position. We are seeking individuals who are committed to helping our organization grow in influence, effectiveness, and value, and we welcome new and diverse perspectives. 

 
 

NOMINATIONS TIMELINE

Apr. 18: Deadline to submit leadership nominations

May 20: Nominations Committee submits slate to the Executive Committee for review and approval

June 6: Nominations slate is emailed to members for a vote

July 1: Approved slate is announced and new term begins

Oct. 6: New leadership is introduced at the CalTravel Summit All-Member Board Meeting

LEADERSHIP CRITERIA

 
 

  • OPENINGS: 1-2 openings (up to 14 members total)

    CRITERIA: Current member of the CalTravel Board of Directors, and a knowledgeable, service-minded, influential tourism industry leader

    COMMITMENTS:

    • Monthly virtual EC meetings

    • Attendance at quarterly in-person board meetings

    • Active participation in CalTravel board activities

    • CalTravel PAC Donor (organization or individual)

    • Significant additional time commitment

    TERM: 3 Years (2 consecutive terms max)

  • OPENINGS: 10-12 openings (27-100 members total)

    CRITERIA: Represent an advocacy association; an influential voice in the industry; an underrepresented group (region, category, or perspective); or an individual who has made significant contributions to CalTravel’s mission

    COMMITMENTS:

    • Up-to-date membership, plus $500/year for board assessment fee

    • Attendance at quarterly board meetings

    • Participation in CalTravel activities

    • CalTravel PAC Donor (organization or individual)

    TERM: 2 Years (2 consecutive terms max)*

    *Association and Gold members have no term limits

  • OPENINGS: 2 openings (18 Chairs/Co-Chairs total)

    • PAC Trustees Co-Chair

    • DMO Roundtable Co-Chair (large DMO)

    CRITERIA: Must have expertise in subject area, and be a current member of the committee

    COMMITMENTS:

    • Up-to-date membership

    • Attendance at quarterly board meetings

    • Proactively plan agenda, initiate committee work, provide timely responses  

    • Participation in CalTravel activities

    • Significant additional time commitment

    TERM: 1 Year (3 consecutive terms max)
